Hi! I'm Taryn, Founder of Fostering Threads and former foster momma.
I am so excited you found us! As a former foster momma, I know how important having a village is and I'm excited to be a part of yours.
My husband and I began our foster care journey in 2020 and completed licensing in 2021. Just three days later, we welcomed two brothers into our home and quickly experienced how important a strong foster village can be.
When our boys arrived, they came with the clothes on their backs, one extra outfit, and a single blanket in a plastic bag. Those first few days were overwhelming—trying to gather essentials while also managing doctor visits, caseworker meetings, visitations, and court appointments.
During that season, we received support from a nonprofit in Dallas that made an enormous difference for our family. They delivered care packages for both boys, giving us breathing room when we desperately needed it. But, more than anything, their support reminded us we were not alone.
After relocating to Houston in 2024, I began looking for ways to stay involved in the foster care community. In that process, I realized the type of practical, immediate support we received in Dallas was not readily available here. Families needed something simple, accessible, and supportive during those critical first days of placement.
In 2026, Fostering Threads was created to help meet that need. Our goal is to ease some of the chaos that comes with a new placement and remind foster families they do not have to do this alone. Every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and cared for, and every caregiver deserves a community willing to step in beside them.
